Born and raised in Brazil, after 5 years in New York, Thais has drifted to the waters of Maui to be fully supported by the scandalous nature of the island and give birth to Soul Portraits. Soul Portraits is a spiritual practice and a holistic approach to photography. Thais provides a safe space for individuals to be seen and celebrated, offering transformational experiences and meaningful connections. Soul Portraits is not just a photography service, but a powerful tool for self-expression, homecoming, and business activation. Thais works with leading coaches, educators, healers, and artists who have a deep care and respect for the healing arts and the artist. The Ethos in my Transmission
I am a healing artist first, photographer second.
I help artists and photographers come out of hiding and express their soul with meaning and impact in their art so they can liberate their voice and attract client work that is aligned with their soul.
I serve artists who are overcoming old stereotypes of inferiority, like the ‘black sheep’ or ‘depressed artist’ and want to gain courage and freedom to express their art without shame and guilt, be seen and paid for their soul work.
I want to offer people the space to taste themselves and feel liberated from what has silenced their voice and access what is sacred to them. I want artists to take more space in our culture, be needed and valued beyond the primary ideas of creativity. I empower artists to be visionaries, leaders and creators of culture. I support artists to overcome their ‘small-me’ complex and stop the narrative in their mind that the world does not understand them. I believe it’s time for the world to not only understand the importance of art, but prioritize, give space, value and give money to the deep poetry and meaning in an artist's voice as they transmute our collective grief and sentiments.
Soul Portraits School is emergent and a deep feeler of the world. It’s here to nurture, hold and listen to what the Artist has to say, process and create at times of profound changes. I care a lot about what lives in the soul, the sacred sanctuary of humanity’s sentiment and inherent belonging. I believe that if we can create from that place, we are creating from love, from truth, from deep beauty, from coherence. A creation that heals. The soul is enormous, beyond words, beyond image, it needs all of our mediums and voices to be expressed to be brought into a field we can collectively feel and stay connected, resourced, loved.
The art that carries soul provokes us viscerally. It has a natural magnetism that can ignite transformation through enchantment and awe-originality. It’s medicinal, visceral and a spiritual necessity as we re-imagine the world we want to belong in.
Because I am such a devotee of descents to our soulful truth, which unlocks our embodied aliveness and true belonging, I do not have permission from my ancestors or any interest in teaching ABC formula based short cuts. In fact, I intentionally make an effort to not be in rooms where people are not willing to journey and accept initiations. My spaces will most likely take you on a journey of frustration if you don’t resonate with the path of shadow work and slow embodiment through presence and active listening.
This is the spirit in which I will show up for our time together, as a sacred witness, a guide and someone who is passionate about transmitting to you all I’ve learned in my journey and supporting you in connecting the dots in your world.
